YOUR MOMENT OF MUSIC AND ART WEEK 40, from Pam and Wendell

Dear Friends,
We are here in beautiful Portugal today, ahead of Pam’s work at the University of Lisbon this coming week. Pam will be presenting a seminar on “Music and the Movies” on October 1, and a performance of her CHOPIN MEETS THE BEATLES program on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 ( to see posters, read this on her website Blog at http://www.pamelahowland.com/news ). We are honored to be here to engage with these wonderful people.
For this week’s MOMENT – “Achat Sha’alti” (One thing I ask) is the 2nd movement from composer Paul Schoenfield’s Six Improvisation on Hassidic Melodies. Pam met the composer in 1985 when she had received a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Subsequently, Pam made the world premier recording of this wonderful piano work (pamelahowland.com). Today we combine this with my “Yellow Sky Over Distant Dark” (acrylic on panel 4″ X 8″ 2014 wendellmyers.com)
We wish you a wonderful new week,
Pam and Wendell

YOUR MOMENT OF MUSIC AND ART WEEK 39, from Pam and Wendell

Pam’s arrangement (pamelahowland.com)of the Beatles’ beautiful song, “She’s Leaving Home,” is combined with Wendell’s blue painting called “Blue Trees in Moonlight” (acrylic on panel, 10 x 10, 2014 wendellmyers.com )

YOUR MOMENT OF MUSIC AND ART WEEK 38, from Pam and Wendell

Today’s MOMENT is a combination of Pam’s arrangement of The Beatles’ “For No One” (from the Revolver album) with a painting of Wendell’s, “Winter Thicket” (acrylic on canvas 30 x 30, 2012). This sad, pensive piece of music ends on the dominant chord (V), leaving the listener up in the air – a fitting representation of the sentiment of the loss and unresolved love expressed in the song. pamelahowland.com wendellmyers.com
